It’s believed that around 18 percent of the US, or almost one in every five people, has a form of anxiety disorder, whether it’s PTSD, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder, or something different. Since such a vast percentage of the population presents these conditions, psychologists and researchers are constantly seeking new anxiety cures daily. This is excellent news for sufferers who have the symptoms of such disorders and are curious about if there is anything that can be done about treating panic attacks.
Although there are drugs that may calm a sufferer with any of these disorders, anxiety attack treatments are not generally found in a bottle. Medications like Zoloft or Paxil might help enormously, however many people with these conditions are also encouraged to sign up for some form of cognitive or behavioral program as well.
One of the primary reasons that psychotherapy is such a vital part of any anxiety treatment is that while panic attacks may be initiated by chemical imbalances in the brain, it can also be activated by the manner in which sufferers think and see circumstances. For example, if they believe that new people they meet will judge them negatively, then they can start to feel a fear of public places. By adopting different and more balanced ways of seeing future social events or meetings, then this alternative manner of processing becomes part of their anxiety cure. The pain is minimized if the sufferer assumes that gatherings, presentations, public speaking, and things similar to these will be a success. If they believe that new people will approve of them, then they will experience less panic.
These forms of anxiety cures may help with many other types of anxiety, such as panic attacks. If an individual learns to see that they are simply experiencing a panic attack and that there generally is nothing the matter with them and nothing to be anxious about, this might help to lower the panic at least to some degree.
These forms of mental anxiety cures are far from a magic pill and might not be the solution in most cases, however they could be helpful. While doctors do their best to perfect their anxiety cures and drugs, learning alternative methods of seeing and of coping with this disorder can go a long way toward helping you to cure it. If a sufferer is not offered the correct anxiety cure for their circumstances, at minimum they may be sure that their disorder won’t unnecessarily interfere with their daily life.
